Market development is a cornerstone in poverty reduction
strategies and programmes. Improving the accessibility and
functionality of markets will improve the living conditions for
poor people. An enabling environment for economic activity
coupled with improvements in financial markets and pro-poor trade
policies will contribute towards sustained growth. SIPU
International has expertise in a broad range of market development
related areas including private sector development, financial
services, labour market development and trade. Our services include
project design, project implementation, training and
evaluations.
SIPU International is one of Sida's key partners in
market development. Recently, Sida awarded the company (in
consortium with other leading European resources organisations) a
framework agreement for market development. Call-offs based on the
agreement will include reviews and evaluations, development of
inputs into strategic processes, elaboration of background
documents, etc. Examples of assignments implemented under the new
framework agreement are the assessment of financial strategies and
solutions for Electricidade de Moçambique's investments as well as
the review of strategies for Sida's loans and guarantees for
environmental projects.
Furthermore, SIPU International has been contracted by
Sida to implement two international training programmes of
relevance for the area, i.e. the Strategic Business Management and
the Private Sector Growth programmes. These training interventions,
which will run from 2011-2015, will bring together policymakers,
regulators, representatives of support organisations and business
operators from different countries, thereby also offering an
opportunity for extensive networking.
