SIPU together with Eurecna is assisting the Ministry of Human and Minority Rights, Public Administration and Local Self-Government in implementing the project "Support to the Public Administration Reform in Serbia, 2010-2013", financed by Sida.
As part of the key project activities, a
regional conference bringing together ministers responsible for
public administration and some 150 experts from Albania, Bosnia and
Herzegovina, Croatia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia and
Slovenia was held in Belgrade on October 6-7, 2011.
The President of Serbia, Mr Boris Tadic, as well as the
Vice-President of the European Commission, Mr Maros Sefcovic,
addressed the conference.
The participants discussed the key challenges in Europe for
building a modern public administration, focusing on the level and
quality of service, skills and capacity that the region's public
administrations need to achieve in in the context of European
integration.
At the end of the conference, the ministers signed a
'Declaration on Regional Cooperation in the Process of
Modernisation of Public Administration', pledging inter alia to
increase cooperation, particularly through the exchange of good
practices and other information, direct professional contacts
between the institutions, and the establishment and support to
regional institutions and other initiatives.
