Capacity Building of Civil Society in the IPA Countries & Territories

SIPU International seeks to contract eight Project Officers, nine Administrative and Financial Assistants, one PR and Communications Officer, and one Webmaster to implement the EU project Capacity Building of Civil Society in the IPA Countries & Territories under the Instrument for Pre-accession Assistance (IPA) - Civil Society Facility - Technical Assistance.

The aim of the project is to strengthen civil society within participative democracy, and to stimulate a civil society-friendly ‘environment’ and culture. This should be done by strengthening the overall capacities and accountability of CSOs, guaranteeing the quality of services of CSOs, and a sustainable role of CSOs in the democratic process.

The project will establish nine Civil Society Facilities (technical assistant desks) in eight countries (Western Balkan and Turkey) with the responsibilities to increase and improve the capacity, actions and democratic role of CSOs. The Resident Advisor (RA) together with the Technical Assistant (TA) team will, under the supervision of the Team Leader, have the responsibility to design and implement a comprehensive civil society capacity building framework and training programmes in their respective countries.

The project has a two-year duration with possibilities of being prolonged. Preliminary commencement date is 17 August 2009.
